Coconuts & Pineapples

The most environmentally sound beverage is one served in the shell of the fruit from which it is made. Pineapples and coconuts both serve as exotic vessels for everyone’s favorite vodka and rum concoctions.

Pineapple
Use a very sharp knife to cut off the top and core out the center. Mix together your refreshing beverage of choice (I did vodka, pineapple juice & soda) and have guests refill their pineapples out of a dispenser throughout the night.

Coconut
Use a power drill to make large 2 holes in the top of the coconut. Turn the coconut upside down until all of the water is drained. Reserve all of the coconut water in a large vessel to batch your cocktail (I mixed coconut water, white rum and fresh squeezed lime). I pre-filled 25% of the coconuts for guests to grab upon arrival, and left the rest empty for my guests to fill at their leisure throughout the evening. Be careful not to overfill coconuts - they tend to roll and spill if you aren’t careful! I recommend using a dispenser with the batched cocktail and attaching a narrow funnel to ensure the cocktail will neatly pour back into the coconut shell. Garnish with a straw and tiki umbrella!

TIP: Find you a friend who is willing to carry 60+ lbs of coconuts home from the store. (Thanks Andrew!)
